General Information About Pet Surgery

We understand you may have questions about your pet’s surgery. Below, you’ll find helpful information about surgical procedures, preparation, and what to expect throughout the process.

What days do you perform surgery?

We perform surgeries and dentals by appointment Tuesday - Wednesday

What is pre-anesthetic testing?

Pre-anesthetic testing is a series of tests performed before anesthesia to help us assess your pet’s overall health and identify any conditions that could affect anesthesia or surgery. Depending on your pet’s age, health, and procedure, testing may include bloodwork and, when appropriate, additional diagnostic tests.

These tests help our veterinary team choose the safest anesthesia plan for your pet and identify potential concerns before the procedure. While pre-anesthetic testing cannot eliminate all risks, it provides valuable information that helps us prepare for your pet’s individual needs and monitor them appropriately during anesthesia.

What is a histopath?

A histopathology (histopath) is a laboratory examination of a tissue sample under a microscope by a veterinary pathologist. It is commonly performed after a biopsy or when a mass or abnormal tissue has been removed.

A histopath can help determine what a tissue abnormality is, whether it is benign or cancerous, and whether additional treatment or monitoring may be recommended.
